Every championship softball team needs a big bat in the middle of the lineup and a strong arm in the circle. For the 2002 Chestnut Hill College softball team Jaime Lester ’03 was both. That year, as a junior, Lester ranked second in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III for batting average (.569, 41-for-72), second in slugging percentage (1.125), fourth in triples (6), fifth in homeruns (7), and sixth in runs-batted-in (RBI) (33). Under the direction of Head Coach Val Interrante and Lester’s leadership, the Griffins claimed their second Atlantic Women’s Collegiate Conference (AWCC) in 2002 with Lester earning the league’s Most Outstanding Player of the Year award. She was a two-year captain, a two-time All-AWCC selection, and a three-time Chestnut Hill College softball Most Valuable Player (MVP). Heavily involved in campus life and athletics, Lester was a three-sport student-athlete (Softball, Field Hockey, and Basketball) and a valued member of the Chestnut Hill College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Griffin Club. She was a two-time All-AWCC field hockey player while serving one year as the Griffins captain and team MVP. She served as an assistant coach for the Chestnut Hill College softball team in 2004.
