Lorraine Busch took the reins of the Chestnut Hill College department of athletics in 1977 after the retirement of fellow inductee, Betty Buckley. Lorraine served as the College’s athletics director from 1977-1990, while coaching volleyball (1986-‘90), basketball (1990-1991), and softball (1977-89 & ‘90-‘91). Her dedication and passion for the sport of softball brought new life to the program in 1977, with the construction of a new field and a determination to win. Because of her efforts, Chestnut Hill College softball was propelled into regional recognition after capturing PAIAW Conference Championships in 1979, 1980, and 1981. The 1982 team earned first place honors at the Beaver College Tournament. She continued to coach softball until 1989 and remained teaching and serving as athletic director until 1990. Following her time at Chestnut Hill College, Lorraine continued to be involved with the health of her community. She is a Penn State 4-H Club Educator and a 2009 Penn State Master Gardner. Lorraine also serves as an instructor through the American Red Cross, becoming a member of their Clara Barton Society in 2007.
