Sidney Chukuntarod (San Francisco, CA) and sophomore outside hitter
Alex DePalma (Shillington, PA) were major contributors to those victories resulting in recognition among the CACC’s weekly award winners. Chukuntarod received her second CACC Rookie of the Week award, while DePalma was an honorable mention for the CACC Player of the Week award for the fourth time this season.
Chukuntarod provided 101 assists (8.42/set) in a 2-1 week for Chestnut Hill College (11-14, 6-7). She offered two kills, 26 assists, five aces, and six digs in the loss to Dominican College, before supplying four kills, 35 assists, 11 digs, and two blocks in the win at Goldey-Beacom College, on Thursday, October 13, and five kills, 40 assists, an ace, and nine digs in the win at Felician College on Saturday, October 15. She has hustled to 654 assists this season while also recording 40 kills, 32 aces, 186 digs, and 17 blocks.
DePalma continues to headline Chestnut Hill College’s best season of play as a NCAA Division II institution, this week helping with 42 kills, four aces, and 41 digs. She averaged 3.88 points/set with her best performance coming in the loss at Goldey-Beacom College; 15 kills, two aces, 17 digs, and one block. She also provided 13 kills, an ace, and ten digs against Dominican College and 14 kills, an ace, and 14 digs at Felician College. She leads the Griffins in kills (305) and aces (35) while helping defensively with 307 digs and 13 blocks.
The women’s volleyball team continues their CACC schedule at home on Tuesday, October 18, with a 7:00 p.m. match against Philadelphia University.
