Schmidling Named CACC Golf Rookie of the Week, Mezzatesta Earns Honor Roll Appearance
New Haven, Conn. - (9/18/2019) – With matching rounds of 74 (+3), senior captain Taylor Mezzatesta (Forest Hill, Md.) and freshman David Schmidling (Hockessin, Del.) tied for ninth at last weekend’s Swarthmore College/Neumann University’s Frederick W. Anton III Memorial Tournament. The duo led the Griffins to a second place finish (2nd of 19 teams, 301 (+17) strokes) and earned them each recognition on this week’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Golf Report. Schmidling garnered the CACC Golf Rookie of the Week Award, while Mezzatesta made an appearance on the Weekly Honor Roll.
The Scarlet and Gold traveled to Wilmington, Delaware, today, Sunday, September 15, for the Swarthmore College/Neumann University’s Frederick W. Anton III Memorial Tournament. All five of Chestnut Hill College’s participants finished with scores among the top-25 and the qualifying foursome all shot among the top-20, placing the Griffins 2nd of 19 teams with 301 (+17) strokes. Mezzatesta and Schmidling were the top performers with rounds three-above par; 74 (+3). Stevens Institute of Technology edged out Chestnut Hill College by three strokes; 298 (+14), thanks to a tournament-best, one-under par (1st, 70, -2) from sophomore Eddie Sot (Berkeley Heights, N.J.).
