Fisher Wins Third Straight CACC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week Award
New Haven, Conn. - (10/9/2019) – Senior Zigmund Fisher (Chadds Ford, Pa.) made it three weeks in a row as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week as his second place run (2nd, 25:10.36) led the Griffins to a 16th place finish (16th of 31, 408 points) at the Highlander Cross Country Challenge.
Chestnut Hill College traveled to Branch Brook Park, in Newark, New Jersey, for Saturday’s Highlander Cross Country Challenge. Fisher led the Griffins to a 16th place finish (16th of 31, 408 points) in the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT)-hosted event with his second-place run (2nd, 25:10.36). Fisher’s time in the men’s eight kilometer (8K) race was only bested by the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) junior Noah Simatei (Eldoret, Kenya), who completed the course in 4:53.93. However, the Highlanders won their own event with five of the top-10 finishers. Chestnut Hill College had two other finishers in the top-100 as senior Jake DiCello (Pottsville, Pa.) and freshman Chris Johnson (Wildwood Crest, N.J.) respectively crossed the finish line 74th (27:57.65) and 87th (28:26.28). Four other Griffins completed the course through Branch Brook Park; senior Alex Lynch (Manchester, N.J.) ran 144th (32:28.24), senior Jonathan Boc (Jersey City, N.J.) placed 186th (33:10.36), freshman John Munroe (Narberth, Pa.) crossed 217th (34:30.97), and freshman Terrance Cunnane (Glenside, Pa.) finished 241st (37:17.02).
