Mayer Returns to CACC Golf Weekly Honor Roll With All-Tournament Play
New Haven, Conn. - (10/16/2019) – Senior Shawn Mayer (Brick, N.J.) returned to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Golf Weekly Honor Roll today, Wednesday, October 16, after his 16th place (75-76, 151, +9) at the College of St. Rose Shootout and an all-tournament performance (5th, 72-79, 151, +7) at the league championship. Mayer made his first CACC Golf Weekly Honor Roll appearance on September 11 after tying for 24th (78-74, 152, +8) at the Franklin Pierce University Fall Invitational.
Chestnut Hill College improved by two strokes on their second tour of White Beeches Golf and Country Club as a combined score of 316 (+28) improved the Griffins' standing to fourth place (4th of 9, 318-316; 634, +58) at the CACC Golf Championship. The effort matched the Griffins' best showing at the league championship as the Scarlet and Gold placed 4th in a 10-team field (4th of 10, 347-321; 668, +92) at the 2013-2014 tournament. Mayer remained the Scarlet and Gold's top shooter as his second-day 79 (+7) brought his two-day total to 151 (72-79, +7), placed him in fifth on the final leaderboard, and earned him a spot on the all-tournament team.
Chestnut Hill College played 13 strokes better on their second round of play at Pinehaven Country Club as their score of 303 (+15) also improved their final standing at the College of St. Rose Shootout. The Griffins finished the event 7th in the nine-team field with 619 strokes (7th of 9, 316-303; 619, +51), recovering from an initial last-place standing. Mayer picked up a stroke on his first round and advanced a spot on the individual leaderboard to place 16th with his day-two 75 (+4) bringing his two-day total to 151 (+9).
