Del Vecchio’s Play at Wildcat DII/DIII Invitational Earns ECC Women’s Bowling Weekly Honor Roll

West Babylon, N.Y. - (11/22/2019) –
Chestnut Hill College began their defense of their Wildcat DII/DIII Invitational crown on Friday, November 11, at New Castle, Delaware's Bowlerama. Behind the play of All-Tournament performer junior Christina Del Vecchio (Warrington, Pa.), the Griffins finished the weekend with an 11-2 record and their second straight Wildcat DII/DIII Invitational. Del Vecchio, who ranked third in traditional pin average (219.6 pins/game) and struck on 54.8% of her shots throughout the weekend to earn a mention on the East Coast Conference (ECC) Women’s Bowling Weekly Honor Roll.

Chestnut Hill College (32-12) went 8-2 during the first two days of play, accumulating 4,464 pins during day one’s Baker victories over Molloy College (W, 988-899), Mercyhurst University (W, 801-718), New Jersey City University (NJCU) (W, 934-705), and Wilmington University (W, 914-857) and another 4,886 pins during day two’s Traditional victories over Felician University (W, 1,004-890), Kutztown University (W, 958-935), Daemen College (W, 1,059-957), and Mount Aloysius College (W, 966-891). Del Vechhio filled nine-of-10 frames in the win over the Gothic Knights and all 10 of her frames in the Griffins’ day-one victory over the Wildcats. She rolled several 200-plus games on the second day of competition, offering a 202 in a 946-899 loss to Bloomfield College, a 215 in a 1,004-890 win over Felician University, and a 245 in in the Griffins’ 966-891 win over Mount Aloysius College.

Seeded in second, Chestnut Hill College defeated host Wilmington University by a 4-2 measure in the first match of the best-of-seven Bracket competition. Del Vechhio filled 11-of-12 frames in that match and eight-of-eight in the following 4-0 victory over NCJU to help give the Griffins a final showdown with the Wildcats. There, she rolled for strikes on 11 of her 14 balls to nudge the Scarlet and Gold over Wilmington in a 4-3 final.
