Sorgenti Arena was rocking during a 16-2, third-quarter rally that grabbed Chestnut Hill College (1-4) a 41-40 advantage over Bloomsburg University (1-1) with 3:30 remaining in the third quarter. Junior guard Cassie Sebold (Willow Grove, Pa.) scored the go-ahead bucket and the Griffins’ two following three pointers to push the Scarlet and Gold advantage to seven points, 47-40, with 2:35 left in the frame. Unfortunately, the Huskies outscored the Griffins 8-2 during the remaining third-quarter clock and 22-9 during a one-sided fourth quarter that saw Chestnut Hill College gradually lose ground in a 70-58 conclusion.
Miller grabbed three rebounds and scored seven of the Griffins’ 13 first-quarter points before retiring to the bench with a pair of fouls. She picked her charge back up in the second quarter, adding a free throw and a rebound in a last-minute stretch that left Chestnut Hill College down nine, 34-25, at halftime. The Scarlet and Gold’s third-quarter got started with Miller’s work in the paint as she scored four points, grabbed three rebounds, and provided a block before Sebold’s eight-point streak. In the fourth quarter, Miller continued to play hard despite the Griffins losing ground on the prevailing Huskies. She totaled six points and one rebound in the closing frame.
