Riiff Rewarded With Second
CACC Player of the Week Award
New Haven, CT – (10/11/2011) – Senior forward
Lauren Riiff (Clementon, NJ) totaled 11 points in two crucial wins this week to earn her second Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week award. She opened the week with two goals and an assist in a 3-2 win at Holy Family University on Wednesday, October 19, before closing the week with a hat trick in a 5-0 win at Concordia College (NY) on Sunday, October 23.
Riiff propelled Chestnut Hill College to a 2-1 CACC week with an 11-point week. Riiff struck twice in the first half, first at 11:43 and again at 40:29, to give Chestnut Hill College (8-8-, 6-5) a 2-0 halftime lead over Holy Family University. Unfortunately by the 66
th minute (65:41), the Tigers evened the contest at 2-2. They led the Griffins in shots, 19-13, and corner kicks, 6-2, but it was not enough to account for Riiff, who made it a five-point evening with the assist on the game-winning-goal. At Concordia College (NY), the Clippers left the ball in a dangerous position just past the 24-minute mark. Riiff seized the opportunity and gave the Griffins a 1-0 advantage by striking the ball to the bottom right corner of the Clipper goal. Only a minute later (25:27), sophomore midfielder
Steph Litty (Marlton, NJ) located sophomore midfielder
Lauren Nolte (Wilmington, DE) on a corner kick for her second goal of the season. Litty did it again at 30:42, finding Riiff with another corner kick and landing the Griffins a 3-0 halftime lead. A third corner kick goal organized by Litty and junior midfielder
Lyss Radetich (Sewell, NJ) at 58:47 made it 4-0 Griffins and another Riiff unassisted strike off a turnover propelled the Griffins to the 5-0 triumph. With that performance, Riiff raised her season goal total to 15, a new career-high, and recorded her fifth game of her career with at least three goals. Riiff now leads the CACC in goals (15), points (34), and shots (81).
The women’s soccer team visits Wilmington University on Tuesday, October 25, when they face the Wildcats in a 3:30 p.m. contest.
