Double-Double Delivers Miller CACC Weekly Honor Roll Recognition

New Haven, Conn. - (1/13/2020) –
An 21-point, 11-rebound double-double from sophomore forward Leah Miller (Punxsutawney, Pa.) and the perimeter shooting of sophomore guards Lauren Crim (Warrington, Pa.) (3-of-5, .600 3PT) and Morgan Orloski (Bethlehem, Pa.) (2-of-2, 1.000 3PT) helped Chestnut Hill College overcome Felician University late in Saturday’s (January 11) 83-75 league final. For her effort, Miller earned a spot on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll. Miller’s 21 points were a career-high. She was 7-of-17 (.412) from the field and 7-of-8 (.875) from the free throw line, while making two blocks and a steal for the Scarlet and Gold defense.

Chestnut Hill College (4-11, 3-3) and Felician University (2-11, 1-5) were neck-and-neck in a competitive first quarter that saw a four consecutive points from sophomore forward Bri Hewlett (North Wales, Pa.) give the Griffins a 14-10 (4:15) advantage. Less than a minute later, the Golden Falcons tied the affair at 16-16 (3:27) with a three-point basket from freshman guard Kiera Dunhill (Perth, Australia). A fastbreak from junior guard Cassie Sebold (Willow Grove, Pa.) gave Chestnut Hill College the late edge, 18-16 (2:43), but a Dunhill jumper kept all things even, 18-18 (2:13), heading to the second quarter. There, Miller and Crim championed the Scarlet and Gold to a narrow 31-30 (2:51) lead before Felician University forged ahead for a 36-31 halftime advantage.

The Golden Falcons made the most of their halftime lead as they paced the Griffins through the third quarter and held a slight 58-57 lead heading to the fourth quarter. Orloski made the difference there as she hit a layup and a pair of three pointers in a 10-5 run that flipped the contest in Chestnut Hill College’s favor; 67-63 (6:44). Afterwards, the Griffins briefly surrendered the lead once, 69-68 (5:15), before a pair of jumpers from freshman forward Lindsey Lane (Havertown, Pa.) spirited the Griffins for a 14-7 closing run; 83-75 (0:09).
