Riiff Receives Second CACC Honorable Mention
New Haven, CT – (11/1/2011) – Providing all three Chestnut Hill College goals in a 3-1 win at Wilmington University on Tuesday, October 25, earned senior forward
Lauren Riiff (Clementon, NJ) her second honorable mention for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week award. She has appeared on four CACC Weekly Reports this season, twice earning the league’s top weekly honor.
Giving an encore performance to her hat trick performance at Concordia College (NY) on Sunday, October 23, Riiff scored all three Chestnut Hill College (9-9, 7-5) goals in a 3-1 win at Wilmington University. She scored twice in the first half with a little help from her friends and then added an unassisted score in the middle of the closing period to provide insurance. She buried her first goal from 18 yards out and at 24:16 she struck again, this time converting from 20 yards out off a throw-in from sophomore midfielder
Lauren Nolte (Wilmington, DE), 2-0. Following halftime, Riiff added a third score at 69:37 after stealing a ball from a Wildcat defender. The Wildcats were saved from the shutout by the contest’s final goal at 75:31. With the victory, the Griffins finished their CACC season at 7-5 and the #5 seed for the CACC Championship Tournament.
Riiff finished the season with the program’s second best offensive season with 40 total points on 18 goals and four assists. She finished her collegiate career as the program’s all-time leader in goals (50), points (124), shots (298), and game-winning-goals (13).
The women’s soccer team will travel to #4 Georgian Court University on Tuesday, November 1, for a 2:00 p.m. CACC Opening Round contest.
