Sebold Secures CACC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll Spot in Win at Bloomfield College

New Haven, Conn. - (2/15/2020) – Junior guard Cassie Sebold (Willow Grove, Pa.) capped a 10-2 Scarlet and Gold run that opened the second half with a pair of free throws (48-39, 7:05) and a drive to the bucket; 50-39 (4:33). Afterwards, Chestnut Hill College finished the third quarter of Saturday’s (February 15) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Bloomfield College with a 14-point lead, 62-48 (0:00), and eventually defeated the Bears by a 77-71 (0:02) margin. Sebold led three Griffins in doubles figures with 24 points as she hit a career-high six three-point shots (6-of-10, .600) and made both of her free throws (2-of-2, 1.000) en route to a mention on the CACC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll.

Bloomfield College (4-21, 3-13) narrowly led Chestnut Hill College (10-14, 9-6) through a majority of the first two quarters. The Griffins trailed the Bears by their largest margin at the start of the second quarter, falling behind by seven points, 21-14 (9:41), on an opening three-point basket and remained down by the same spread, 27-20, after the first of two free throws from sophomore center Leah Miller (Punxsutawney, Pa.) with 6:32 remaining in the first half. Following Miller’s second free throw, the Scarlet and Gold seized the momentum as they tied the Bears at 30-30 with 3:14 left to play, and beat them to a 40-37 (0:07) halftime spread thanks to a three-point basket from sophomore guard Lauren Crim (Warrington, Pa.) (38-37, 1:14) and a drive and dish lay-in from Sebold to Miller; 40-37 (0:07).

The Griffins’ 10-2 opening run gave them a nine-point, 48-39, advantage with 7:05 remaining in the third quarter. A layup from sophomore guard Morgan Orloski (Bethlehem, Pa.) pushed the Chestnut Hill College advantage to a game-high 14 points, 57-43 (1:17), just before the final minute of the frame and a Crim three-point buzzer beater returned it there for the start of the fourth quarter; 62-48 (0:00). In the fourth quarter, the Scarlet and Gold kept the Bears at bay, holding a double-digit advantage, 69-59, with 4:46 remaining in the affair and sustaining the home team’s fleeting rally in a 77-71 (0:02).

It was Sebold’s fifth straight double-digit game and her third 20-plus venture in the stretch. She also recorded four rebounds and eight assists in the victory.
