Sebold Scores Way to CACC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll
New Haven, Conn. - (2/25/2020) – Chestnut Hill College’s 1-1 week versus Goldey-Beacom College (W, 64-54 on February 18) and Thomas Jefferson University (L, 49-51 on February 22) was enough to return the Scarlet and Gold to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Tournament for the first time since the 2017-2018 season. Likewise, junior guard Cassie Sebold (Willow Grove, Pa.) offered 18.5 points per game (PPG), 7.0 assists per game (APG), and 4.5 rebounds per game (RPG) to earn an appearance on the CACC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll.
Earning a valuable victory in their quest for a CACC Championship Tournament appearance, Chestnut Hill College (11-15, 10-7) defeated South Division rival Goldey-Beacom College (8-16, 8-8) by a 64-54 in Tuesday evening's league contest. Sebold and sophomore guard Lauren Crim (Warrington, Pa.) scored 19 points apiece; the former hit three (3-of-4, .750) from beyond the arc, while the latter hit six (6-of-10, .600) as the pair accounted for all nine (9-of-18, .500) for the Griffins' long range baskets and all three (3-of-4, .750) of their free throws. Sebold matched her 19 points with two rebounds and nine assists.
The grand finale of a busy Saturday (February 22) on the Hill, the Griffins hosted Thomas Jefferson University (15-11, 11-6) in a CACC Mental Health Awareness Game with postseason implications. Chestnut Hill College paced the Rams through a low scoring first half, 23-16, thanks to nine points from Sebold and nine rebounds from sophomore center Leah Miller (Punxsutawney, Pa.). In the second half, the Griffin advantage reached 11 points, 31-20 (7:33, 3QTR), before the Rams charged back to tie the contest, 43-43 (4:27, 4QTR), before scoring a 51-49 victory over the Scarlet and Gold. Sebold gritted out an 18-point performance with a 6-of-15 (.400) shooting performance that included three three-point baskets (3-of-6, .500) and three free throws (3-of-4, .750). She also recorded seven rebounds and five assists. Miller added four points, two assists, three blocks, and a steal to her dozen (12) rebounds.
