New Haven, CT – (4/6/2010) – Sophomore Julius Twyman (Coatesville, PA) helped Chestnut Hill College to a 1-2 week with his play against Bloomfield College and Philadelphia University. For his efforts he was recognized with his second consecutive honorable mention among the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) weekly award winners.
Twyman had a hand in each of the Griffins’ points against Philadelphia University. He scored the lone singles point for Chestnut Hill College (8-7, 3-2) with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Ryan Christopher (Pottstown, PA) at number four singles after teaming with junior Carson Richter (Lafayette Hill, PA) for an 8-2 victory at number two doubles. Unfortunately the Griffins lost the match 7-2. Twyman was also perfect in the Griffins’ match against the Deacons, scoring a 6-1, 6-2 win over junior Jamal Loper (Chester, PA) at number three singles and an 8-2 win with Richter at number two doubles. The Griffins closed the week with a CACC match at Concordia College on April 3. Twyman lost number three singles 6-0, 6-1 and number two doubles 8-2, but recorded the Griffins top performances of the afternoon.
Twyman holds the Griffins’ best individual record with a 10-6 standing; he is 8-2 at number three singles. His doubles record is the same, 10-6, as he has teamed with Richter for a 9-4 mark, playing primarily in the second flight. He was a CACC honorable mention for the week ending March 28.
The men’s tennis team welcomes Neumann University to campus on Tuesday, April 6, for a 4:00 p.m. match.
