Melnychenko Merits ECC Player of the Week Award

                                                                                                                   
Central Islip, NY – (3/13/2012) – Chestnut Hill College sophomore attack Mike Melnychenko (St. Catharines, Ontario), recorded six points in each of the Griffins three wins last week to garner the East Coast Conference (ECC) Player of the Week Award. For the week, Melnychenko totaled 13 goals and five assists to record 18 points, three ground balls, and two caused turnovers this week. He currently leads the ECC in points with 22 while ranking second in goals with 17.
 
#11 Chestnut Hill College (4-1, 1-1) enjoyed a three-game win streak last week, defeating Assumption College, Coker College, and American International College (AIC), by a least ten goals apiece. Melnychenko was the top contributor to the high-powered Griffin offense.  He offered three goals and three assists to go along with a ground ball and two caused turnovers in an 18-4 win over Assumption College on Tuesday, March 6. He then scored four goals and provided two assists in the Griffins 16-6 win over Coker College on Thursday, March 8, before totaling six goals in the Griffins third straight non-conference win, a 22-7 defeat of AIC.
