Manuel Ceniceros (Mexico City, Mexico) receiving the Player of the Week honors and freshman
Sammy Atri (Mexico City, Mexico) garnering the Rookie of the Week honors.
Ceniceros finished spring trip to Hilton Head as the Griffins top performer, recording a 1-1 singles record and a 2-0 doubles record for Chestnut Hill College (3-3). He earned two points for the Griffins in their 6-3 loss to Walsh University (OH) on Sunday, March 4. First, he teamed with freshman
Mike Humes (Medford, NJ) for an 8-6 win at number two doubles. He then battled for an individual victory at number three singles, winning 7-5, 6-7 (9), 10-8, over the Cavaliers senior Jonathan Esber (Canton, OH). Ceniceros and Humes also recorded the Griffins lone point in an 8-1 loss to Catawba College on Tuesday, March 6, winning 8-4 at number one doubles. Ceniceros is 3-2 at number three singles and undefeated, 5-0, in doubles play this season.
Atri collected his first collegiate victory and a point for the Griffins with a 6-0, 6-4 win at number four singles in the loss to Walsh University (OH). In doubles, he lost 8-4 with sophomore
Jeramy Solema (Briarwood, NY). He finished the spring trip to Hilton Head with a 1-1 singles record and a 0-2 doubles mark.
