Colossal Week for Cavallo Garners CACC Honorable Mention on Weekly Report
New Haven, CT – (4/16/2012) – Junior first baseman Giana Cavallo (Turnersville, NJ) enjoyed a tremendous week at the plate for Chestnut Hill College, which saw her hit .571 (12-of-21) over an eight-game last week while launching three home runs and adding two doubles, seven runs-batted-in (RBI), and six runs. For her effort she was recognized with an honorable mention for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week award.
Cavallo produced a torrid week of hitting and helped Chestnut Hill College (2-24, 2-18) to their second CACC win, as the Griffins picked up a 9-8 victory over Bloomfield College in the second game of a CACC doubleheader on Saturday, April 14. In the second game against the Deacons, Cavallo was 2-for-4 with two runs-batted-in (RBI). She hit three homeruns on the week, the first in her first at-bat against St. Thomas Aquinas College on Monday, April 9, and the other two coming separately in a doubleheader against Caldwell College on Tuesday, April 10. She currently leads the Griffin offense with a .317 (20-for-63) batting average, a .524 slugging percentage, a .386 on-base percentage, seven runs, and 11 RBI.
