Melnychenko Warrants Mention
On ECC Week 11 Honor Roll

                                                                                                                   
Central Islip, NY – (5/2/2012) – Sophomore attack Mike Melnychenko (St. Catharines, Ontario) totaled 11 points in a 1-1 for Chestnut Hill College to earn a mention on the East Coast Conference (ECC) Week 11 Honor Roll. Melnychenko offered two goals and three assists in the Griffins 13-4 win over Molloy College on Tuesday, April 24, before recording five goals and an assist in a 19-13 loss at Lake Erie College on Saturday, April 28.
 
Chestnut Hill College (7-6, 4-5) dominated the opening quarter of play against Molloy College to own an early 4-0 lead over the Lions. Melnychenko assisted on the Griffins second and third goal of the quarter, before depositing the fourth goal himself. In a contest where the Griffins outshot the Lions 40-15, Melnychenko scored twice on eight shots while also recording three assists, two ground balls, and a caused turnover. At Lake Erie College, a fourth-quarter run led the Storm past Melnychenko and the Griffins. Melnychenko provided his fifth six-point performance of the season with five goals and an assist, but with seven straight fourth-quarter scores the Storm washed out the Griffins, 19-13. Melnychenko finished the affair with five ground balls and caused a turnover in addition to his team-leading offensive production.
 
For the season, Melnychenko leads the Griffins in goals (32) and points (44) while ranking second on the team in assists (12). Among his ECC peers, he is tied for third in goals and fourth in points. He was named the ECC Player of the Week on March 12 after totaling 18 points in a during a 3-0 week.
