New Haven, Conn. – (9/17/2012) – In a 1-1 week for the men’s soccer team, freshman forward Dominic Pernice (Rehoboth Beach, Del.) represented Chestnut Hill College on the Central Atlantic Collegiate College (CACC) Weekly Report as the league’s Rookie of the Week. Pernice was the Griffins offensive leader in a tough 1-0 loss to Lock Haven University on Wednesday, September 12, recording the home team’s best three chances on goal.
Chestnut Hill College (2-3-1, 1-1) and Lock Haven University remained scoreless through the opening 78:16, when the Eagles broke the stalemate and won the contest, 1-0, on a penalty kick goal from senior defenseman Bobby Moore (Erie, Pa.). Eight different Griffins recorded at least a shot, but Pernice had the Griffins three best chances with his second-half strikes going wide, saved, and blocked.
The Griffins were able to end the week on a high-note, defeating Concordia College (NY) 3-0 in a CACC home contest on Saturday, September 15.
