Timony Takes Share of CACC Player of the Week Award
New Haven, Conn. – (3/11/2013) – Senior midfielder
Brianne Timony (Allentown, N.J.) totaled eight goals, an assist, two ground balls, five draws, and a caused turnover in Chestnut Hill College women’s lacrosse team’s 0-2 opening week to earn a share of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week title. She offered five goals, an assist, two ground balls, and a caused turnover in the Griffins 10-9 loss to Ft. Lewis College on March 4 and then contributed three goals in effort to rally the Griffins in a 16-9 loss to Mercy on March 9.
Chestnut Hill College (0-2) hosted Fort Lewis College this afternoon in a wildly competitive season opener on March 4. Timony registered the affair’s first tally, 3-1 (19:00), and after one goal from the Seahawks, 4-1 at 16:38, one goal from freshman midfielder
Emorie Keimig (Freeland, Md.), 4-2 at 15:11, and two more Timony tallies (13:16 & 7:02) the score was all tied up at 4-4. Each side would score twice more before the break, leaving the halftime spread at 6-6. The Griffins took a 9-7 lead into the final 14 minutes. Unfortunately, the Seahawks controlled play late as they scored the contest's last three goals for a 10-9 win. Junior midfielder Ally Kvidera (Plymouth, Minn.) led the Seahawks with four goals, four ground balls, two draws and two caused turnovers; meanwhile, Timony captained the Griffin effort with five goals, an assist, two ground balls, three draws, and two caused turnovers.

Erica Eaby (Lancaster, Pa.) scored at 15:34 to cut the deficit to 3-2, but soon after, two scores from sophomore Marissa Kluber (Wading River, N.Y.) reestablished the Maverick lead at 5-2 and forced the Griffins into their first timeout. Reunited, the home team narrowed the gap to one once more thanks to two consecutive Timony strikes, 5-4. Unfortunately, that was as close as the Griffins would get with the Mavericks outscoring 2-1 to halftime, 7-5, and 9-4 in the second half, 16-9. Timony hustled to two draws in addition to her scoring.
The women's lacrosse team begins their CACC season with a 4:30 p.m. home contest against Philadelphia University on Tuesday, March 12.
