Timony Returns to CACC Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Report
New Haven, Conn. – (3/13/2013) – A week after serving as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Co-Player of the Week, senior midfielder
Brianne Timony (Allentown, N.J.) revisited the league’s weekly report as an honorable mention for the award. Timony totaled five goals, six ground balls, nine draw controls, and a caused turnover in a 0-2 week for Chestnut Hill College, who suffered setbacks against Philadelphia University, 20-2 on Thursday, March 14, and at Molloy College, 18-11 on Saturday, March 16.
Timony provided one of two goals in Chestnut Hill College’s (0-4) CACC loss to Philadelphia University. The Lady Rams high-powered offense proved too much for the Griffins, as the visitors claimed a league victory by an 18-goal margin. The Griffins tallied one goal in each half with Timony recording the home team’s second-half score. She also recorded four ground balls in the loss.
At Molloy College, a late first-half run was the difference maker as the Lions broke away from a 7-5 advantage to defeat the Griffins 18-11. Senior attack
Christina Squillante (Kings Park, N.Y.) and junior attack
Kelly Campbell (Hatboro, Pa.) led the Griffins early competitive play, but even a strong second-half from Timony was not enough to keep up after the Lions found comfort on their home field. Timony finished the affair with four goals, two ground balls, and seven draws.
Timony currently leads the Griffins in goals (13) and points (14), while also supplying eight ground balls, 14 draw controls, and two caused turnovers.
The women's lacrosse team resumes their CACC with another contest against Philadelphia University. This one will be played on Wednesday, March 20, at 4:00 p.m. on the Lady Rams Ravenhill Field.
