Timony Earns Second Mention on CACC Honor Roll
New Haven, Conn. – (4/2/2013) – Chestnut Hill College made it two league wins in a row with an 18-8 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over Wilmington University on Tuesday, March 26. Two days later, on Thursday, March 28, the Griffins looked to carry their momentum into their non-conference schedule with the first two goals of an afternoon contest with East Stroudsburg University. Chestnut Hill College (2-6, 2-2) earned their second CACC victory with an 18-8 win over Wilmington University on Tuesday, March 26. The Griffins turned a slow start into a 9-4 halftime advantage behind seniors, Timony and attack
Christina Squillante (Kings Park, N.Y.). Following intermission and an initial Wildcat strike at 26:18, 9-5, the second half was all Griffins. The home team grew their advantage to 14-5 with 17:15 still to play and the deficit reached ten goals, 16-6, at 12:07. Timony gave the Griffins their largest lead, 18-6, with 4:55 left on the game clock, leaving two late Wildcat scores (3:42 and 2:25) to trim the final margin to ten goals, 18-8.
Against the Warriors, the Griffins deposited the first two goals of the affair, but a late first-half run gave the visitors a 3-2 halftime lead and the momentum heading to the closing period. With the lead in hand, the Warriors managed to stay a step ahead of the Griffins to capture a 12-9 victory. Timony headlined the Griffins half of the box score with four goals and a draw control.
Timony currently leads the Griffins in goals (26) and points (29) while sharing the team lead in assists (3) and additionally providing 11 ground balls, 24 draw controls, and four caused turnover. Her 26 goals rank her second among her CACC rivals while her point total places in a tie for fourth.
The women's lacrosse team resumes their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule on Wednesday, April 3 with a 4:00 p.m. contest against Holy Family University.
