Saxon Scores CACC Honor Roll After Delivering Victory at Richard Stockton Invitational

Bryan Saxon (Califon, N.J.) headlined Chestnut Hill College’s first invitational victory with a low round of 78 (+7) at the Seaview Bay Course in Absecon, New Jersey. For his first-place finish and contribution to the Griffins victory, Saxon was recognized on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Golf Report Honor Roll.
For the first time in program history, Chestnut Hill College golf emerged victorious in invitational play as the Griffins placed ahead of Philadelphia University, Rutgers University-Camden, and host, Richard Stockton College with 331 (+47) team strokes. Trailing the Griffins in the final team standings; Philadelphia University placed second with 333 (+49) team strokes, Rutgers University’s A team placed third with 336 (+52) strokes while the Raptors B team brought up the rear, placing 13 strokes (356, +72) behind Richard Stockton College, 343 (+59).
Saxon is the Griffins stroke leader, averaging 79.0 swings over seven rounds. He has recorded three top-five finishes, including Wednesday’s performance and the Charger Challenge on October 7 and 8, 2012, where Saxon tied for 5
th place on a 73-stroke second round (+1); a Griffin best for the season.
The golf team competes next on Tuesday, April 9, when the tee-off in the CACC Championship Tournament. The championship will be hosted, for the third consecutive year, by Chestnut Hill College at the Whitemarsh Valley Country Club in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.
