ECC Marks Maurer as League’s Goalkeeper of the Week

Dakota Maurer (Lititz, Pa.) recorded 17 saves to collect his fifth win of the season and the East Coast Conference (ECC) Goalkeeper of the Week title.
Chestnut Hill College (5-5, 2-2) held a narrow 4-3 halftime edge over Mercy College and managed to score the last goal of the third quarter to keep the contest tied, 7-7, heading to the final frame. There, junior attack
Michael Melnychenko (St. Catharines, Ontario) scored all three of his goals to ignite a 5-1 game-ending Griffin run. Meanwhile, Maurer fended off 17 of the 40 shots that came his way.
Starting all ten games for the Griffins, Maurer has recorded league leading 130 saves while providing 10.23 goals-against-average (GAA) and a .573 save percentage on 303 shots faced. The senior goalkeeper also collected 12 groundballs and had two caused turnovers this season.
The men's lacrosse team continues their ECC schedule next Saturday, April 20, with a 1:00 pm home contest against Dominican College (NY).
