West Babylon, N.Y. - (2/4/2021) – Senior Christina Del Vecchio (Warrington, Pa.) was named a Co-Most Valuable Player (MVP) and earned a spot on the New York Metro Invitational All-Tournament Team with her 21.15 pins per frame helping the Scarlet and Gold to first in the six-team field (1st of 6, 8W-0L, 3,766-3,908; 7,874 pins). For her efforts, she was named to the East Coast Conference (ECC) Women’s Bowling Weekly Honor Roll (.PDF).

For Chestnut Hill Collee (8-0), the first match of the two-day event was against Bloomfield College. Led by Del Vecchio (224 pins), the Griffins defeated the Bears by a 921-854 measure. The Griffins followed their initial victory with a 903-873 win over New Jersey City University (NJCU), a 931-924 win over Caldwell University, and a 1,011-949 victory over host, Felician University. Del Vecchio rolled a team, and personal, high for the weekend with her 236 against the Golden Falcons. She finished the first day of competition with a 197.00 average that ranked her seventh among all competitors.

In the first match of day-two, the Griffins defeated Molloy College by a 1038-933 final. Del Vecchio filled all 10 Baker frames while her classmates, Laura Oliver (Bayville, N.J.) and Kristina Scimone (Gibbsboro, N.J.) filled nine out of 10. Host, Felician University lost to the Scarlet and Gold in the second Baker round, 940-810. Chestnut Hill College then rolled past Caldwell University 1014-874 with all five Griffins filling eight frames; Del Vecchio was one of them and she impressed with strikes on nine of her 14 rolls. The Griffins defeated NJCU in their last match of the invitational, 916-901. Again, Del Vecchio came through in the clutch with strikes in nine of 10 frames.

Chestnut Hill College returns to action on Friday, February 5, when they join Mount St. Mary's University (Md.) to host the Northeast Invitational at 30 Strikes in Stratford, New Jersey.
