Vassallo Makes First CACC Weekly Report With Honor Roll Recognition
New Haven, Conn. - (3/15/2021) – Sophomore midfielder Danielle Vassallo (Hicksville, N.Y) recorded a goal and two draws in a 20-2 non-conference loss at Thomas Jefferson University (March 9) and scored a team-high three goals in a 12-7 loss to Neumann University (March 13) to garner recognition on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Honor Roll. She totaled four goals, six ground balls, six draws, and a caused turnover between the two contests.
Chestnut Hill College (0-2) got their 2021 season underway at Thomas Jefferson University on Tuesday, March 9. There, the Rams held the upper hand for the duration of the non-conference affair, pacing the Griffins to an 11-2 halftime spread and an eventual 20-2 final. Sophomore midfielders Madyson Schwartz (Philadelphia, Pa.) (5-1, 21:20, 1st) and Vassallo (8-2, 4:57, 1st) netted goals for the Scarlet and Gold and accounted for all five of the Griffins’ shots. Vassallo corralled two draws in excess of her score.
On Saturday, March 13, Chestnut Hill College welcomed Neumann University to Victory Field #1 for their home opener. The Knights scored the first goal of the game (1-0, 29:340), but the following 3-0 run gave the Griffins an early edge (3-1, 22:45). Unfortunately, Neumann University outscored Chestnut Hill College to a 6-4 halftime spread and an eventual 12-7 final. Vassallo totaled her three goals on eight shots, while recovering six ground balls, four draws, and causing a turnover.
Chestnut Hill College continues their early-season, non-conference schedule on Wednesday, March 24, when they visit St. Thomas Aquinas College for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
