Jimenez Nets CACC Weekly Honor Roll Appearance with Three-Goal Week
New Haven, Conn. - (3/30/2021) – Junior forward Maddie Jimenez (Bensalem, Pa.) scored the last goal of a 3-2 loss to Nyack College on March 23 and both Chestnut Hill College goals in a 2-0, March-25 victory over Felician University to earn a spot on this week’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Honor Roll. The three-goal week brings Jimenez’s season point total to nine (4 goals, 1 assist); she leads the Scarlet and Gold in goals (4), points (9), and shots (30).
Fighting for every inch in their final home contest of the season, Chestnut Hill College (1-5, 1-5) battled Nyack College in yet another tight CACC affair. The Warriors established a two-goal advantage in the latter half of the opening period, 2-0 (38:32), but they were unable to rest on their laurels as an early second-half penalty kick from sophomore forward Riley Regan (Philadelphia, Pa.), 2-1 (46:42), brought the Scarlet and Gold within tally. An unfortunate bounce gave Nyack College the a breakaway and the insurance they needed (3-1, 63:36) to outlast the Griffins in a 3-2 final. Jimenez provided the second Chestnut Hill College goal just before the 80-minute mark (79:13), breaking the Warrior defense on a long serve from freshman midfielder Kayla Dougherty (Williamstown, N.J.), 3-2.
Chestnut Hill College scored their first win of their 2021 Spring CACC season on Thursday, March 25 as a pair of hard Jimenez blasts carrying the Scarlet and Gold to a 2-0 victory over the Golden Falcons. The Griffins’ advances eventually overwhelmed the Golden Falcons as the first of Jimenez’s drive glanced off the goalkeeper’s fingertips before landing in the back of the net at 26:46, 1-0. The Chestnut Hill College offense did not quit with the changing of ends as the Griffins kept the ball in the Felician University backfield until Jimenez added some insurance with another long blast, 2-0 (84:48). The late score provided plenty of coverage for senior goalkeeper Amanda Ianniciello (Milton, Ontario), who made the only four saves she needed to in the shutout victory (1-4).
Chestnut Hill College’s week concluded at Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania's General Ronald K. Nelson Field, where the Griffins fell to Holy Family University in a 5-0 CACC final. The Scarlet and Gold returns to action today, Tuesday, March 30, as they visit Dominican College for a 2:00 p.m. kickoff.
