Trabosh Graces CACC Weekly Report for Third Week

Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.) remained on this week’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Volleyball Report as an Honor Roll member. Averaging 0.45 digs-per-set, Trabosh totaled 45 digs in wins over Goldey-Beacom College, 3-2 (20-25, 19-25, 25-17, 25-16, 15-10) and Queens College, 3-2 (28-26, 17-25, 21-25, 25-18, 15-9).
In a grueling five-set match against Goldey-Beacom College, Chestnut Hill College (3-7, 1-1) earned their first CACC victory of the 2013 season with sophomore middle hitter
Rachel Biro (Nazareth, Pa.) providing the punch, junior setter Alyssa Tamsing (Ventura, Calif.) giving direction, and Trabosh commanding the defense. The Griffins faced an uphill battle after dropping the first two sets of the match 25-20 and 25-19. In the third set, they led early before allowing the Lightning to knot the contest at 15-15. An 8-1 run gave the Griffins a 23-17 advantage that quickly became a 25-17 win on back-to-back kills from Biro. The Griffins ran away with the fourth set, evening the match score at 2-2 with a 25-16 win. In the deciding set, the Griffins stayed two steps ahead of the Lightning, leading 12-7 before winning by the same margin, 15-10. Trabosh totaled 21 digs in the victory.
Friday night’s match was a competitive battle from the opening serve with the Griffins enduring the Queens College attack for a second straight 3-2 victory. Outside hitters, senior
Alexandra DePalma (Shillington, Pa.) and freshman
Madison McBride (Long Beach, Calif.) powered the Griffins attack, while Trabosh united the Griffins defensive effort with 24 digs, six assists, and two aces. Through the first ten matches of her collegiate career, Trabosh leads the CACC in digs-per-set (5.32) and total digs (218).
The women's volleyball team resumes their CACC on Tuesday, September 24, when they host Philadelphia University in a 7:00 p.m. match.
