Maiorca Earns CACC Weekly Honor Roll Recognition With Fourth-Place Finish at Griffin Invitational
New Haven, Conn. - (3/31/2021) – Sophomore Drew Maiorca (Lake Placid, N.Y.) backed up a day-one 82 (+10) with a second-round 76 (+4); his day two performance landed him a fourth-place finish (4th, 158; 82-76, +14) in the 35-man field at the Griffin Invitational and a spot on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Golf Weekly Honor Roll. Maiorca led the Griffins to a fourth-place finish (4th of 7: 661; 337-324, +85) at Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania’s Sunnybrook Golf Club with his rounds of 82 (+10) and 76 (+4).
Goldey-Beacom College (1st, 641; 333-308, +65) emerged from their initial third-place stance (3rd, 333, +45) for the Griffin Invitational trophy. Behind Maiorca’s fourth-place finish, the Chestnut Hill College scoring foursome included freshman Paul Schulte (Cape May Court House, N.J.) (12th, 164; 83-81, +20), junior Ryan Woelfling (Myerstown, Pa.) (T14th, 166; 82-84, +22), and sophomore David Schmidling (Hockessin, Del.) (T17th, 173; 90-82, +29). Sophomore James Doxey (Ringwood, N.J.) tied for 27th (181; 91-90, +37) as the fifth competing Griffin. Meanwhile, sophomore Conor Regan (Mullica Hill, N.J.) finished his individual play with a two-day total of 174 (84-90, +30).
Chestnut Hill College competes next on April 5 and 6, when they visit Penn Oaks Golf Club for two rounds of play in West Chester University’s Dr, Edwin Cottrell Invitational.
