Schulte Scores CACC Golf Rookie of the Week Award
New Haven, Conn. - (4/6/2021) – Freshman Paul Schulte (Cape May Court House, N.J.) was Chestnut Hill College’s top competitor at the West Chester University’s Dr. Edwin Cottrell Invitational, where his two-day score of 157 (79-78, +15) tied him for 19th and helped the Scarlet and Gold to an eighth-place tie (T8th, 647; 317-330, +79). The performance earned Schulte the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Golf Rookie of the Week award.
Chestnut Hill College finished day one of West Chester University's Dr. Edwin Cottrell Invitational in seventh place (7th of 12) with 317 (+33) team strokes. The Griffins were led by a pair of 78's (+7) from junior Ryan Woelfling (Myerstown, Pa.) and sophomore Conor Regan (Mullica Hill, N.J.); the duo was tied for 15th place. Schulte was just a stroke behind, tied for 19th with his round of 79 (+8).
At the conclusion of the event, Chestnut Hill College’s scoring foursome at Penn Oaks Golf Club included Woelfling, Regan, and sophomore Drew Maiorca (Lake Placid, N.Y.) - who respectively tied for 33rd (163; 78-85, +21), 39th (164; 78-86, +22), and 41st (165; 82-83, +23) - as Schulte's supporting cast. Sophomore David Schmidling (Hockessin, Del.) also competed; he tied for 57th (171; 87-84, +29).
Chestnut Hill College returns to action on Tuesday, April 13, when they visit Liberty Hill Golf Club for the Jefferson Classic.
