CACC WOMEN'S SOCCER GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Lafayette Hill, Pa. - (9/8/2021) -Â Sophomore defenderÂ
Caitlin Geiger (Philadelphia, Pa.) approached a 40-yard free kick with confidence and struck it to the back of the Queens College (0-0-1) goal late in the 39th minute (1-0, 38:47). Unfortunately, a Chestnut Hill College (0-1-1)  foul in the box gave the Knights a successful free kick of their own midway through the 57th minute (1-1, 56:30). Neither side scored in the remainder of regulation, precipitating overtime play. There the Griffins looked to play the ball to senior forwardsÂ
Maddie Jimenez (Bensalem, Pa.) andÂ
Olivia Medeiros (Bristol, R.I.), but ran out of time in an eventual 1-1 double overtime tie.
The Knights were the aggressor off the openiong kickoff, testing senior goalkeeperÂ
Bri Hewlett (North Wales, Pa.) early in the affair. But the Scarlet and Gold keeper was up to the challenge as she stopped four saves in the first 16 minutes (16:04) and finishing the contest with a career-high 11 saves.
Rochester, N.Y. - (9/11/2021) -Â Late in today's contest at Roberts Wesleyan College (0-3-1), forwardÂ
Maddie Jimenez (Bethlehem, Pa.) scored the first goal (78:34) of her senior year and the only one needed for Chestnut Hill College (1-1-1) to defeat the Redhawks, 1-0. She was responsible for half of the Griffins' 10 shots. Meanwhile, senior goalkeeperÂ
Bri Hewlett (North Wales, Pa.) did her part to complete the first shutout of her collegiate career with six saves. She made four of them in the first half, buying the Scarlet and Gold time to take over in the later frame.
