CACC WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Garden City, N.Y. - (9/7/2021) - Freshman setter Mia Caporellie (Downingtown, Pa.) offered 16 assists and 10 digs in her collegiate debut, but Chestnut Hill College was unable to overcome Adelphi University (4-1) in tonight's season opener, 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-16). The Panthers endured a late Scarlet and Gold push to take the opening set by a 25-21 score. They won the second two sets by matching 25-16 margins, pulling away midway through the second set and early in the third. Caporellie focused her efforts through junior right side Henielys Ramos (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) and freshman outside hitter Erika Dubosky (Summit Hill, Pa.), who connected for nine kills apiece atop the Chestnut Hill College (0-1) attack. Ramos also recorded six assists and nine digs. Sophomore setter Torrin Kelley (Hanover, Pa.) recorded two assists and 10 digs in her collegiate debut.

New Castle, Del. - (9/10/2021) - Chestnut Hill College (0-2) played the first of three matches scheduled for their stay at the Wildcat Regional Invitational today with a competitive 3-1 (22-25, 25-21, 21-25, 21-25) loss to Franklin Pierce University (3-2). The Ravens pulled away late in the opening set, separating from an 18-18 stalemate with a 7-4 run to their first point (1-0). The Griffins evened the score at 1-1 with a 25-21 win in the second set as sophomore setter Torrin Kelley (Hanover, Pa.) directed a mid-set run that spurred the Scarlet and Gold to the finish. Unfortunately, Franklin Pierce University was the victor in the final two sets - 25-21 and 25-21 - and the match with a late rally in the third frame and a consistent edge in the fourth. Junior right side Henielys Ramos (Trujilo Alto, Puerto Rico) headlined the Chestnut Hill College effort with a career-high 18 kills on a .271 (18K-5E-48TA) hitting percentage. She also recorded six assists, an ace, and 14 digs. 

New Castle, Del. - (9/11/2021) - Chestnut Hill College (2-2) evened their early-season record with a 2-0 day at Wilmington University's Wildcat Regional Invitational. Behind the superb play of junior right side Henielys Ramos (Trujilo Alto, Puerto Rico), the Griffins concluded their stay at event with back-to-back wins over the College of St. Rose (2-4) and Le Moyne College (1-6). Ramos scored a dozen (12) kills and four aces against the Golden Knights, before downing the Dolphins with a career-highs in points (26.0), kills (20) and aces (6). She was recognized as a member of the all-tournament team.
