Dawson Garners Second CACC Honor Roll Mention

New Haven, Conn. – (10/1/2013) – A Chestnut Hill College’s top player, junior Charlotte Dawson (Odessa, Texas), was one of many to go 3-1 in a 3-1 week of competition against Holy Family University, Post University, Caldwell College, and the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT). Scoring victories in all Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) singles and doubles competitions, Dawson earned a spot on the CACC Weekly Honor Roll for the second time this fall.

Fresh off individual play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional, the Chestnut Hill College (6-1, 5-0) women's tennis team resumed CACC play with a match at Holy Family University. The Griffins continued their perfect season by sweeping all matches in a 9-0 final. Dawson combined with freshman Marie Deleval (Grimaud, France) claimed number one doubles, 8-4, before serving as the victor at number one singles, 6-4, 6-1.

On Friday, September 27, it was a perfect afternoon for the Griffins, who followed the recognition of Head Coach Albert Stroble's 100th collegiate coaching victory with a flawless 9-0 sweep of Post University. The Griffins failed to surrender a single point in any match, double or singles, shutting the Eagles out in every flight. In the opening round of doubles, Dawson and Deleval led off the Griffin lineup with an 8-0 win at number one doubles. Individually, Dawson won number one singles 6-0, 6-0.

For the second straight day and third straight CACC match, the Griffins claimed a 9-0 victory with Saturday’s, September 28, dismissal of Caldwell College. Dawson and Deleval won the final point of the doubles round with an 8-4 win in the top team flight. In singles play, Dawson led off the Griffin lineup with a 6-0, 6-0, victory at number one singles.

Unfortunately, the Griffins perfect tennis season came to an end in Sunday's, September 29, matchup at the New York Institute of Technology, where the Griffins dropped each doubles flight by an 8-2 final before going pointless through individual play, 9-0. Dawson currently stands at 5-1 at number one singles and 4-2 at number two doubles.

The women's tennis team will return to CACC play with a 3:00 p.m. home match against Goldey-Beacom College on Wednesday, October 2.
