Trabosh Shares Fifth Weekly CACC Defensive Award

Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.) once again earned a share of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Defensive Player of the Week award. Trabosh currently leads the league in digs (341) and digs-per-set (5.25) while ranking 26
th nationally for her dig average.
On Tuesday, October 1, each side had their difficulties as Chestnut Hill College (4-10) appeared to be just off their mark, missing several opportunities down the stretch in a 25-22 Mercy College first set. The roles reversed in the second set with the Griffins rallying from an early 10-7 deficit to a 25-21 win thanks to a 10-3 run that left the home side up 17-13 after a Maverick timeout. Unfortunately, the Mavericks 25-15 third-set victory derailed the Griffins momentum, leaving the home team to a 3-1 demise after the Maverick’s 25-22 victory in the fourth frame. Trabosh hustled to 15 digs in the loss.
Hosting the University of the Sciences (USciences) on their Side-Out Foundation Dig Pink Night, Chestnut Hill College concluded their five-match home stand and delivered their third CACC triumph of the season with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-21) victory over the Devils. The Griffins proved to be the superior side from the opening serve, sprinting out to a 9-5 advantage before eventually tasking the opening set 25-21. USciences (4-12, 0-4) attempted to slow the Griffins in the second set, but the Devils only managed to delay the Griffins to a 25-23 win as freshman setter
Emily Drew (Ringoes, N.J.) fed senior outside hitter
Alexandra DePalma (Shillington, Pa.) for nine kills in the frame. She killed four more balls in the third set where the Griffins earned victory with a 25-21 win. Trabosh led three Griffins in double-digit digs with 20 in the affair.
A balanced Griffin attack earned them their second straight CACC victory on Saturday, October 5, when they hit a season's best .241 (59K-20E-162TA) and tied a season's best in blocks (11) during a 3-1 (25-18, 25-23, 23-25, 26-24) triumph at Felician College. Drew fed a trio of Griffin hitters that went for double-digit kills while Trabosh contributed a kill, four assists, an ace, and 26 digs to the victory.
The women's volleyball team continues their home stand, but breaks from CACC play to host Mercy College in a 7:00 p.m. contest on Tuesday, October 1.
