Mondello and McCarthy Run Griffins to Record Finishes, Garner CACC Honor Roll Recognition

Samantha McCarthy (Woodstock, Ga.) at the Collegiate Track Conference (CTC) Championship paced the Chestnut Hill College cross country teams to record finishes. Both were recognized with Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Honor Roll mentions for their efforts.

Gathering steam on their way to the CACC Championship Tournament, the Chestnut Hill College cross country teams both turned in record times at the CTC Championships. Behind a school-record 27:39 (18th) eight-kilometer (8K) run from freshman Samuel Mondello (Staten Island, N.Y.), the Griffin men finished seventh of nine teams with a score of 172 (29:59). The women were fifth of eight teams with a 169 team score (27:31). Mondello ran 18th overall while setting the Griffin men’s 8K record, while McCarthy was the Griffins women’s lead runner. She placed 41st with a run of 26:08.

The cross country teams compete next for the CACC crown on Sunday, October 27, when they join their league rivals at Philadelphia’s Belmont Plateau for the CACC Championship Meet.Â
