Defense Keeps Griffins Rookie Libero on League’s Weekly Honor Roll

New Haven, Conn. – (10/29/2013) – Totaling 89 digs in a 0-3 week of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) competition for the Chestnut Hill College women’s volleyball team, the defensive effort of freshman Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.) earned the Griffins libero her seventh mention on the league’s Weekly Reports. Trabosh averaged 6.85 digs-per-set, directing the Griffins efforts against the University of the Sciences (USciences), Philadelphia University, and Bloomfield College with a pair of 30-plus dig performances and improving her conference-leading totals to 529 digs and 5.34 digs-per-set.

On Wednesday, October 23, Chestnut Hill College (7-18, 5-9) engaged the University of the Sciences (USciences) in a rollercoaster CACC affair. The Griffins focused their efforts behind freshman outside hitter Madison McBride (Long Beach, Calif.), who went for 21 kills, two aces, and 16 digs in her 13th double-double of the season, but after scoring a 25-19 win in the opening set the Griffins went back and forth with the Devils to a 3-2 loss in succeeding sets of 21-25, 28-30, 25-17, 8-15. Trabosh captained the Griffins defensive effort with a season-high 35 digs.

After a short ride down Henry Avenue on Friday, October 25, the Griffins engaged their local CACC rival, Philadelphia University, for the second time this season. The Lady Rams took the match's first two sets 25-22 and 25-13, before junior right side Kaitlyn Schock (Allentown, Pa.) and McBride led the Griffins to a 27-25 third set victory. Unfortunately, the Lady Rams denied any chance at a rally with a closing 25-10 win, 3-1 (25-22, 25-13, 25-27, 25-10). Again headlining the Griffin defense, Trabosh offered 23 digs in the defeat.

Trabosh eclipsed the 30-digs plateau for the fourth time this season in the Griffins 3-1 loss at Bloomfield College on Saturday, October 26. She accumulated 31 digs against the Deacons to tie her for 28th nationally in digs-per-set (5.34/set) by week’s end.

The women's volleyball team will continue their CACC schedule on Tuesday, October 29, with a 7:00 p.m. match at Wilmington University.
