Trevisan and Cassidy Collect Weekly Awards on CACC Report

Billy Cassidy (Primos, Pa.) were respectively honored as the league’s Player and Rookie of the Week. Trevisan averaged 22.0 points-per-game (PPG), 7.0 rebounds-per-game (RPG), 5.0 assists-per-game (APG), and 3.5 steals-per-game (SPG) while offering a season-high 28 points in the Griffins win at Felician College on Saturday, February 22. Meanwhile, Cassidy came off the Griffin bench to average 10.5 PPG.
Looking to stay in the CACC playoff race, Chestnut Hill College claimed crucial conference victories over Georgian Court University and Felician College last week. In Tuesday night’s CACC affair, Trevisan shined in his final home game, leading four Griffins finished in double figures with 16 points, five rebounds, four assists, and five steals. The Griffins wasted little time seizing control the affair as they played off the Sorgenti Arena crowd for an early eight-point advantage, 10-2 at 16:36. By the midway point of the period (9:55), the Griffins extended their deficit to 18 points, 28-10, before allowing a late Lion run reduce the halftime spread to nine points, 37-28. In the second half, however, the Griffins were unwilling to let the visitors back into the fray as they reestablished their advantage to 21 points, 59-38 at 11:22, before maximizing the spread in the closing minute, 80-58 at 0:59. Cassidy recorded four steals while hitting 3-of-7 (.429) from three-point range in a 11-point effort.
With a season-high 28 points, Trevisan led five Griffins in double figures in the win at Felician College on Saturday, February 22. The Griffins secured a slight lead during the first half, securing a six-point intermission lead, 43-37, before Trevisan highlighted a 24-14 second-half stretch that left the Griffins up 16 points, 67-51, with 11:28 still to play. Balanced and unselfish, the Griffins separated by as many as 21 points, 77-56, before securing a 17-point win, 87-70. Trevisan was 9-of-16 (.563) from the floor and 9-of-13 (.692) from the free throw line while recording nine rebounds, six assists, and two steals, in his season's best performance. Cassidy contributed ten points, hitting 2-of-5 (.400) from long range while also recording an assist and a steal.
The men's basketball team will conclude the 2013-2014 regular season on Tuesday, February 25, when they visit Holy Family University for a 8:00 p.m. contest.
