O’Donnell Repeats As League’s Top Rookie, Balcer Joins as Honor Roll Mention

Matthew Balcer (Bensalem, Pa.) was one of three Griffins to finish among the top ten competitors at the Richard Stockton College Invitational while freshman
Kevin O'Donnell (Cape May Courthouse, N.J.) ranked 23
rd with 96 (+25) strokes to help Chestnut Hill College to their first victory of the season. As a result, Balcer was a mention on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Honor Roll while O’Donnell brought home his second straight Rookie of the Week award.
Chestnut Hill College bested their fall score on the Absecon, New Jersey’s Seaview Resort Golf Course by two strokes with Balcer’s 78 (+7) placing second on the leaderboard. He was closely followed by junior
Blaise Straka Jr. (Croydon, Pa.) and sophomore
Bryan Saxon (Califon, N.J.) who came in tied for fifth, 82 (+11), and tied for seventh, 83 (+12), respectively. Sophomore
Cody Bloom (San Diego, Calif.) tied for 14
th with his score of 88 (+17) while O’Donnell was the Griffins final qualifier with his round of 96 (+25).
The golf team plays next on Sunday, March 30, when they visit the Lightning at the Deerfield Golf Course for a 9:00 a.m. tee time in the Goldey-Beacom College Invitational.
