Mark Woltemate (Philadelphia, Pa.) and junior pitcher
Dane Gahr (Brick, N.J.) were recognized on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Honor Roll. Woltemate batted .450 (9-for-20) with four runs, a double, two runs-batted-in (RBI), three walks and three stolen bases while Gahr offered two quality starts, including a four-hit shutout in the Griffins game-one victory over Dominican College.
Chestnut Hill College (12-12, 9-5) emerged as the victor in the first game of Tuesday's CACC doubleheader with Felician College thanks to six strong innings from Gahr (6.0IP, 3H, 1R, 3BB, 3K), a two-out triple from junior
Michael McLaughlin (Philadelphia, Pa.), and seventh-inning RBI single from Woltemate, 2-1.
Woltemate had another hit in the second game against the Golden Falcons and two in the 7-3 game win over the University of the Sciences (USciences) before totaling five hits (5-for-7) in the Griffins doubleheader split with Dominican College.
The first game against the Chargers belonged Gahr, who struck out seven and allowed four hits in the first complete game effort of his collegiate career. Gahr (2-2) did not allow a hit after the fourth inning while his teammates provided him with runs in the first, 1-0, third, 2-0, and seventh innings, 3-0.
Woltemate is currently leading the Griffins in batting (.307, 23-for-75), while sharing the team lead in runs (15), RBI (12), and stolen bases (13-for-14). Gahr has posted a 4.76 earned run average (ERA), by allowing 18 earned runs over 34.9 innings of work.
The baseball team will break from their CACC schedule to make up an early-season postponement with West Chester University when they host the Golden Rams in a 6:00 p.m. contest on Monday, April 14.
