Jaffe Earns CACC Weekly Honor Roll Mention With Game-Winner against Spartans

New Haven, Conn. – (10/6/2014) – Junior midfielder Nicholas Jaffe (Sao Paulo, Brazil) scored his fifth goal of the season, his first in game-winning fashion, to bring Chestnut Hill College a 1-0 triumph at East Stroudsburg University on Wednesday, October 1, and recorded a team-high five shots in a 4-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) loss at Caldwell College on Sunday, October 5. For his effort he was recognized on this week’s CACC Men’s Soccer Honor Roll.

Jaffe and senior midfielder Michael Hester (Seaford, N.Y.) led Chestnut Hill College (4-5-1, 3-2-1) in a highly-competitive contest against East Stroudsburg University. At 83:43, a Warrior foul resulted in a Griffins direct kick from 25 yards out. Jaffe scorched the restart to the back of the Warrior net to give the Griffins a decisive edge heading to the waning minutes of the affair, 1-0, where Hester kept the Warrior keeper busy with two last-minute attempts.

In an actioned-packed first half, Caldwell University scored three unanswered goals en route to a 4-1 CACC win over the Griffins. Hester recorded his first collegiate goal in the second half while Jaffe led the Griffin effort with five shots in a 22-15 shot advantage.

Jaffe currently is currently tied with junior forward Juan Amaya (Cartagena, Columbia) for the team lead in goals (5), while leading the Griffins in assists (5), points (15), and shots (31). He ranks among the conference top-five in each of those statistical categories; tying for 5th in goals, 1st in assists, 4th in points, and 2nd in shots.

The men’s soccer team breaks from CACC play to visit the University of the District of Columbia for a 4:00 p.m. contest on Wednesday, October 8.
