Offensive Outburst versus Bears Lands Fedora CACC Honor Roll Mention

New Haven, Conn. - (10/28/2014) – Chestnut Hill College honored 11 seniors before Saturday’s, October 25, Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest versus Bloomfield College, but afterwards it was junior midfielder Victoria Fedora (East McKeesport, Pa.) who emerged as the Griffins top performer with two goals and an assist in the 7-1 win. For her effort she was recognized on this week’s CACC Women’s Soccer Honor Roll.

Chestnut Hill College (3-12, 3-8) thrilled the home crowd with its highest output of the season on Saturday afternoon. The Griffins got a quick jump on short-handed Bloomfield College (1-15, 1-10), which dressed only 10 players and lost another to injury in the first half. Just 4:08 into the contest, senior Victoria Fioretti (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) beat a Bear defender and sent an angled chip over the keeper for her second goal of the season, 1-0. The advantage stayed at one for the next 18 minutes as the Griffins put the game away with a mid-first half barrage. In a span of 8:56 Fedora had a foot in three Griffin goals, first sending Leanna Ashcom (Philadelphia, Pa.) on a breakaway at 30:30, 3-0, and then scoring two tallies of her own with a breakaway down the left side (35:09, 4-0) and a chipped corner (38:24, 5-0).

In the end, the Griffins outshot the visitors, 37-21, in its highest scoring output since an 8-0 win over Lincoln on October 4, 2010. Fedora totaled four shots in the affair and raised her team-leading point total to 11 with her five-point afternoon. She was also one of three Griffins with multiple shots (2) in a 2-0 league loss to Goldey-Beacom College on Tuesday, October 21.

The women’s soccer team closes out their 2014 season on Wednesday, October 29, with a 2:30 p.m. league contest at Philadelphia University.
