Balcer Leads CACC Pack as Golf Tees Up Spring Season
 
New Haven, Conn. - (3/16/2015) – The Chestnut Hill College golf team resumed play with the spring portion of its schedule at last weekend’s Bear Trap Dunes Invitational. Though rain cut the tournament short, the Griffins offered three of the top 12 individual finishers on the way to a third-place team showing (3^rd of 5, 469, +37). Junior Matthew Balcer (Bensalem, Pa.) was Chestnut Hill College’s best performer, finishing in a tie or third place with a two-day total of 116 (+8) en route to a Player of the Week nod from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). Freshman Sam Riemer (Canton, Mass.) garnered an Honor Roll mention for placing in a tie for 12^th after carding an aggregate total of 120 (+12).

Balcer shot up the individual leaderboard after firing a 75 in the second round of the event, good for third among all golfers and helping him pass 12 other competitors after a nine-hole total of 41 (+5) left him just inside the top 15 after the first round. Riemer, meanwhile, shot a 79 (+7) in the 18-hole second round, moving him up three spots after a five-over 41 in the rain-shortened first round.
