Four Match Win Streak Secures Say and Bocaletto Weekly CACC Awards

New Haven, Conn. – (4/7/2015) – Fueling a four-match win streak that improved the Chestnut Hill College men’s tennis team’s record to 10-6 and brought Head Coach Albert Stroble his 100th career win with the program, senior Steven Say (Cannes, France) and freshman Lucas Bocaletto (Itatiba, Brazil) were honored as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Co-Plyers of the Week. Bocaletto also garnered the league’s Rookie of the Week award; he is the third Griffin newcomer to win the award this season with previously selections going to classmates Daniel Awad (Cartagena, Colombia) and Pedro Festugato Regalin (Caxias do Sul, Brazil).

In the process of a masterful 4-0 week, the Chestnut Hill College men’s tennis team delivered Head Coach Albert Stroble his 100th career win with a 7-2 CACC victory over Caldwell University on Wednesday, April 1. The beginning of the week showcased the Griffins in CACC wins over Bloomfield College and the Cougars while a weekend trip to New England brought the Griffins wins over talented programs from Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) and the University of Hartford.

After delivering a perfect 5-0 mark between number two singles and doubles (2-0 singles, 3-0 doubles) during the Griffins’ first three wins of the week, Say additionally contributed two points in the Griffins’ 4-3 win at Division I-foe University of Hartford on Saturday, April 4. He first added to the win total versus the Hawks in doubles with a 6-3 win, followed by a 6-1, 6-4 individual triumph at number two singles.

Competing at number one singles and doubles all week, Bocaletto headlined three of the Griffins’ four wins as he offered six points to victories over CACC rivals Bloomfield College and Caldwell University, and a fellow regionally ranked ITA Regional rival in Southern New Hampshire University. He also contributed to the Griffins doubles point in a 4-3 win at the University of Hartford. Versus SNHU, he defeated a pair of regionally ranked players in freshman Xavier Aubron (Herouville, France), individually (W, 6-2, 6-1), and with his doubles partner, fellow freshman, Emerson Kelby (Oneonta, N.Y.) (W, 8-5).

The Chestnut Hill College tennis teams returns to their CACC schedule on Wednesday, April 8, when they visit the University of the Sciences for a 3:30 p.m. match.
