Sam Riemer (Canton, Mass.) was recognized on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Tennis Weekly Honor Roll. Riemer followed a first day 74 (+2) at the St. Thomas Aquinas College Invitational with a second round 76 (+4) to make his third straight CACC Weekly Men’s Tennis Report.
A final tune-up for next week’s CACC Championships and fresh off their first-ever National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) regional ranking, Chestnut Hill College placed 4
th of eight team in the Spartan tournament with a two-day score of 606 (+30). Riemer (74-76, 150, +6) continued his recent hot play to help senior
Blaise Straka Jr. (Croydon, Pa.) (74-70, 144, E) lead the Chestnut Hill College contingent.
The Griffins improved their score by eight strokes in Sunday’s second round, carding a team total of 299 (+11) after shooting 307 (+19) on day one. St. Thomas Aquinas College, however, featured the individual champion in senior Colby Lewis (Monroe, N.Y.), who won a playoff to capture the title, and saw its top four golfers all place in the top 11 to take the team crown by nine strokes over second-place Nyack College (585, +9) and 14 strokes over Messiah College (590, +14).
Chestnut Hill College now braces for the CACC Championship Tournament, which will be held April 20-22 at the Blue Bell Country Club in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.
