Klusaritz Grabs Third ECC Rookie of the Week Award, Dambach Assists Draw Honor Roll Mention
 
Central Islip, N.Y. - (4/20/2015) – A lethal dose of freshman attack Dylan Klusaritz (Slatington, Pa.) and sophomore attack Alec Dambach (Howell, N.J.) did Roberts Wesleyan College in on Saturday, April 18, as Chestnut Hill College cruised to an 18-6 East Coast Conference (ECC) triumph in front of a celebratory crowd at Victory Field #1. Their performances in the Griffins Senior Day showcase respectively earned them the league’s Rookie of the Week title and an Honor Roll mention.
 
Following a tightly played first quarter, Chestnut Hill College (6-6, 4-4) went to work on the Roberts Wesleyan College (3-11, 1-6) goal. By the halftime the Griffin advantage reached seven, 9-2, and as the third quarter came to a close on a 13-4 home lead. Sharing the load, junior attack Michael Plaia (Hicksville, N.Y.) scored the first two Griffin goals. Mertens scored Griffins third goal of the quarter and in the second quarter tallies followed from junior attack Tanner Fisher (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia), junior attack George Markey (Branchburg, N.J.), Klusaritz, senior defenseman Frank Berry III (Mission Viejo, Calif.), Klusaritz again, and Plaia once more to put the halftime deficit at nine goals.
 
In the second half the Redhawk scores served only as interruptions to the Griffins execution. With Dambach directing the offense, the Griffins increased the spread to ten goals, 13-3, by the end of the third quarter and as many as 12 goals just before the 6-minute mark (6:21). He totaled six assists before it was all said and done, and he added a goal of his own for good measure to bring his point total to seven for the day. Klusaritz netted the same with five goals and two assists; both were busy elsewhere as Dambach recorded five ground balls while Kusaritz added four ground balls and a caused turnover.
 
Klusaritz and Dambach are currently tied for the team-lead in assists (13); Klusaritz ranks first in points, adding a team-high 18 goals to his assist total while Dambach ranks fourth in points (25), additionally providing a dozen goals (12). This week's rookie award is the second in a row for Klusaritz who also took home the weekly ECC honors for the weeks ending March 1 and April 12.  
 
The men's lacrosse team concludes the 2015 regular season with a 1:00 p.m. contest at Post University on Saturday, April 25.
