Ducretot Earns Weekly Honor Roll Recognition With Spot on CACC All-Tournament Team

New Haven, Conn. – (4/22/2015) – Before their third Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship battle with #1 Concordia College (NY), #2 Chestnut Hill College took down #3 Post University in a 5-0 CACC Semifinal. Freshman Jonathan Ducretot (Antibes, France) and junior Henry Boyle (London, England) earned CACC All-Tournament recognition for their two-win contributions to the triumph; Ducretot additionally earned a spot on the CACC Weekly Honor Roll thanks to his 6-2, 6-3 individual victory at number five singles.

The second-seeded Griffins got their postseason journey off to a fast start with an 8-3 victory at third doubles from Ducretot and Boyle. Seniors Steven Say (Cannes, France) and Michael Humes (Mount Laurel, N.J.) secured an 8-4 triumph at number two before freshmen Pedro Festugato Regalin (Caxias do Sul, Brazil) and Lucas Bocaletto (Itatiba, Brazil) followed shortly with the same score on the top court, capping a three-point doubles effort for the Chestnut Hill College (15-9).

The back end of the singles lineup delivered victory for the home side, as Boyle (6-1, 6-2) and Ducretot (6-2, 6-3) registered straight-sets victories at number six and number five, respectively, bringing the match to a close and booking a third consecutive match-up with the Clippers in the CACC championship match.

After a slow start, the Clippers took control of the CACC Championship match with a sweep of doubles play before sealing the Griffins fate with singles wins in the fifth and sixth individual flights, 5-0.

In the opening round of doubles, Humes and Say made an early stand against their opposites, senior Benas Majauskus (Vilnius, Lithuania) and junior Lorenzo Montegiorgi (Velletri, Italy), but faltered by an 8-2 final after Concordia College (18-4) turned in pro-set team victories at number three (8-2) and number one (8-3) doubles, respectively. Regalin and Bocaletto provided the Griffin resistance in the top team flight while Ducretot and Boyle were the first to fall in the third doubles match.

Singles play saw a spirited competition among the back three courts, as the top individual flights went unfinished after their opening set. Both Say and Humes looked to be gathering steam in their second sets as the former was fighting a 6-2, 4-3 uphill battle at number two singles, while the later was challenging a 6-0, 4-3 deficit at number four singles. Regalin gave Montegiorgi all he had at number three singles (7-6, unfinished), while Bocaletto tested the CACC Rookie of the Year freshman Jui Mao (Taipei, Taiwan) at number one singles (6-3, 1-2, unfinished). In the bottom two singles matches the Clippers clinching victories came respectively at number five (6-4, 6-0) and number six (6-2, 6-0) singles.

Ducretot and Boyle were joined on the CACC All-Tournament Team by four Clippers; junior Rafael Ferreira (Sao Paulo, Brazil), junior Ofir Giant (Raa’nana, Israel), senior Juuso Ojanen (Varkaus, Finland), and Majauskas who also took home the CACC All-Tournament Player of the Year honors.

The Chestnut Hill College men’s tennis team plays their final regular season contest at Villanova University on Wednesday, April 22. Opening serve is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
