Jackson Wins Two, Earns CACC Honor Roll Mention
New Haven, Conn. - (9/21/2015) – Junior goalkeeper James Jackson (Sewell, N.J.) appeared on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Report for a second straight week, this time garnering Honor Roll recognition for his role in league wins at Goldey-Beacom College (3-2 on September 16) and Post University (1-0 on September 19). Jackson totaled 14 saves between the two contests, including eight in the shutout of the Eagles.
Senior midfielder Nicholas Jaffe (Sao Paulo, Brazil) continued to fulfill his role as playmaker in Wednesday's CACC contest at Goldey-Beacom College (1-4, 1-2), where the Griffins captured a 3-2 league victory on his perfectly played ball to the foot of junior defenseman Nils Fussen (Aachen, Germany) at 71:28. Jaffé also assisted on the Griffins' first goal which bounced around off a corner to the foot of senior forward Juan Amaya (Cartagena, Colombia) midway through the first half. Jackson earned his second win of the season and made six saves in a 17-15 shot deficit.
Post University (2-4, 1-2) outshot visiting Chestnut Hill College (3-2-1, 2-0-1) by a 22-7 discrepancy on Saturday afternoon, but Jaffé had the only one that mattered, a booming free kick from 30 yards out in the first half (29:49) that proved the difference in a crucial 1-0 CACC conquest. Jaffé's third goal of the season stood up thanks to Jackson and the Griffin back line, which stood tall to help the scarlet and gold remain unbeaten in conference play and post their third straight shutout in the series.
After a 2-0-1 road trip to begin the conference slate, Chestnut Hill College welcomes Georgian Court University to Victory Field #1 for its CACC home opener on Tuesday, September 22, at 7:00 p.m.
