Williams-Mulesa and Bellon Dawn CACC Weekly Honor Roll

New Haven, Conn. - (9/21/2015) – In pursuit of her 100th victory, senior captain Iman Williams-Mulesa (Pickering, Ontario) got one step closer with a win alongside sophomore Lara Scholtze (Bod Homburg, Germany) in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regionals Women's A Doubles draw, meanwhile freshman Julia Bellon (Indaiatuba, Brazil) and senior Hayley Craskey (Aston, Pa.) enjoyed a bye before scoring a win in the Women's B Doubles bracket. A day earlier, Williams-Mulesa and Bellon both contributed to a 7-2 home-opening win over Stonehill College; Williams-Mulesa was victorious in both formats while Bellon rallied for her first collegiate win at number six singles, 3-6, 6-0, 6-0. Their efforts earned them a mention on this week’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Report.

Williams-Mulesa and Scholtze first combined for an 8-5 win at number two doubles, before Chestnut Hill College (1-0) closed out Stonehill College (3-2) with wins in five of six singles flights. Williams-Mulesa and Bellon both won their individual matches; Williams-Mulesa defeated sophomore Emma Prinos (Foxboro, Mass.) 6-2, 6-0, at number three singles, while Bellon was victorious in comeback fashion, winning 3-6, 6-0, 6-0 over sophomore Janet Haas (Northbridge, Mass.) in the sixth singles flight.

Over the weekend, at Legacy Youth Tennis Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Williams-Mulesa and Scholtze was one of two Chestnut Hill College duos to advance in the Women's A Doubles bracket. They defeated junior Nina Sengl (Puchheim, German) and freshman Merel Ann vanZanten (Velserbroek, Netherlands) 8-2 before falling 8-3 to a semifinal duo from the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) in the following round. In the Women’s B Double draw, Bellon and Craskey won their second round match 8-4 before bowing out of competition on a 6-3 loss to Daemon College’s runner-up junior pairing of Karli Hollins (Orchard Park, N.Y.) and Hayle Scanlan (Indianapolis, Ind.).

Following the ITA East Regionals, the Chestnut Hill College women's tennis teams continue play on Tuesday, September 22, when they visit Holy Family University to open their CACC schedule with a 3:30 p.m. match.
