Repsik, Lopez Named to CACC Honor Roll for Standout Efforts
New Haven, Conn. - (10/5/2015) – Senior Daniel Repsik (Haddonfield, N.J.) and freshman Raquel Lopez (East Meadow, N.Y.) were the cream of the crop as the Chestnut Hill College cross country teams supplied four of the top five finishers in the men's eight-kilometer (8K) race and the top two finishers in the women's six-kilometer (6K) race to post respective 1st (1st of 4, 21 points) and 2nd (2nd of 5, 38 points) place finishes at the Bryn Athyn College Invitational on Saturday, October 3. Each finished first individually, Lopez breaking her own program record with a blazing time of 24:10.10 and Repsik (27:49.10) just holding off hard-charging teammates senior Eric Barton (Colora, Md.) (2nd, 27:49.40) and sophomore Giancarlo Martines (Cherry Hill, N.J.) (3rd, 27:49.60) to earn matching Honor Roll nods on the latest Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Report.
Lopez led the Chestnut Hill College women for the third straight event, this time trailblazing a pack of six Griffins to a 2nd-place finish among a field that included Philadelphia University (1st, 35 points), Albright College (3rd, 79 points), Valley Forge Christian College (4th, 80 points), and host Bryn Athyn College (5th, 120 points). She shattered her own school record of 24:19.74 established just 16 days ago in a ninth-place individual showing at Rowan University’s Bill Fritz/Charlie Way Invitational. Lopez garnered her third consecutive appearance on the CACC Weekly Report.
The Chestnut Hill College men offered records as well, posting their first-ever 1st-place finish and the top average time among its top five finishers; Repsik (1st, 27:49.10), Barton (2nd, 27:49.40), Martines (3rd, 27:49.60), sophomore Luis Cordero (Bunnell, Fla.) (5th, 29:17.90), and senior Manon Purnell (Philadelphia, Pa.) (10th, 31:57.00).
