Griffin Trio Returns to CACC Weekly Report; Biro, Sutton, and Trabosh Earn Honor Roll Recognition

New Haven, Conn. - (10/5/2015) – For the second week in a row, senior outside hitter Rachel Biro (Nazareth, Pa.), freshman setter Kennedy Sutton (Chesapeake, Va.), and junior libero Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.) were recognized on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Women’s Volleyball Report, all earning acknowledgment on the league’s Honor Roll. Over a 1-3 week for the Griffins, Biro totaled 52 kills in the process of collecting her 1,000th career kill in a loss to Pace University on Tuesday, September 29, while Sutton and Trabosh respectively captained the offensive and defensive efforts against the Setters, the University of the Sciences, Caldwell University, and the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT).

Chestnut Hill College (5-14, 4-2) opened the week with a non-conference match opposite Pace University on Tuesday. Despite incurring a 3-1 (25-23, 25-19, 17-25, 25-23) loss at the hands of Setters, the evening was one for the history books as Biro notched 15 kills en route to her 1,000th kills of her collegiate career, in turn, becoming the program's all-time leader in that category and etching her name into Griffin lore forever with a typically impressive performance. In addition to five kills and an ace, Sutton provided 37 assists and 15 digs for her fourth double-double of the season, while Trabosh racked up 35 digs, matching a career benchmark, three assists, and two aces.

The Griffins recorded their third consecutive sweep CACC rival University of the Sciences (USciences) on Thursday, October 1, this evening, continuing their impressive start to conference play with a 25-20, 25-22, 25-22 decision. Biro set the tone with 16 kills on a .368 hitting percentage (16K-2E-38TA) just two days removed from notching her 1,000th career kill.

On Saturday, October 3, the Griffins hosted a tri-match with CACC rival, Caldwell University and the NYIT. In an opening CACC engagement, the Cougars defeated the Griffins by a 3-0 (25-11, 25-23, 25-22) final. Caldwell University followed that up with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 26-24) loss to NYIT, who in turn topped the Griffins in the finale, 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-20). Biro led the Griffins in the opener with 12 kills and two block assists and after a break the Griffins’ second match of the tri-match placed them opposite NYIT. The Bears dispatched the Griffins with favorable set scores of 25-20, 25-18, 25-20. Biro totaled nine kills and was supported by 25 assists from Sutton while Trabosh tied for the team lead in digs with 13.

The women’s volleyball team returns to Sorgenti Arena on Wednesday, October 7, when they challenge Georgian Court University in the first of two CACC meetings (7:00 p.m.).
